Daily Laxative Archive

Thursday, May 27th.

Here's a great story about our former foes from Portland Jesuit, remember them?  The high school's first game of the year. And we showed them a little kindness and consideration for the effort and travel they put in to play us, feeding the boys after the game. Looks like it might have rubbed off a little bit.

And someone call Ripley's, seattletimes.com posted a high school lacrosse press release.  Maybe this means that within our kids' lifetimes the Times might actually write an article about the sport.Wednesday, May 26th.
Just in case you feel like you can't possibly have an impact on a kids life, read
this.
Plus, get you and your family's butts to Bainbridge Island tonight. Ferries at 3:45, 4:40, 5:30 & 6:20. Root Bellevue on in the State Semi's. It'll be a nice evening for you.

Here we go, check out the trailer then set those Tivo's to watch the full-length
film on ESPN!

Breaking news. It's a sad day around here.

Here, this will cheer us up, and answer that age old question, what really
happens down there in a faceoff?

Saturday, May 22nd.
Lotsa good stories in today's NCAA games. Here's one that reminds us what the seniors at Army face after they graduate in a few weeks. (Hint: It's not running a lacrosse camp)  Here's some tidbits about Maryland you might not know.  "We have a plan", say Stony Brook, here. Learn about the Irish Duke of Earl here. Here's some things to watch in the Duke vs UNC event. And finally here's wrapup of last week's heroes so you can look for them this week.

Friday, May 21st.
Saturday night the MLL's Denver Outlaws have their home opener against the Long Island Lizards. Bellevue's own Chris O'Dougherty (Coach OD) will be there representing the Wolverines. Here's an interview with a man on the other team, storied rookie and 2009 Tewaarton Trophy winner Matt Danowski.
He talks MLL, Pro dollars, Girls and NCAA predictions.

(Interview is taken from BroBible.com, a website whose ads are often NSFW, thus the repackaging.)

A nice story about the closest D1 Lacrosse program to us.  Good luck Cole N!
Wednesday, May 19th.
The Maryland Interscholastice Athletic Association (MIAA) is the breeding ground for some of the best high school lacrosse in the nation. It will surprise some of you to learn that there are many high schools in the state of Maryland that do not have ANY lacrosse programs. And many more that play lacrosse at a much lower skill level.  A situation not unlike that of many states, including ours. How good is the MIAA? See if these numbers speak to you.

And while we're on the topic, check this graphic out, it explains some stuff, eh?

To celebrate the Washington Stealth's hosting of the Champion's Cup game Saturday night, we bring you not one, not two, but three Stealth Laxatives!

And (it's a busy time of the Lax year) don't forget to set your TIVOs for Friday night, 6:30pm, channel 414 (Fox College Sports) as BHS Grad Drew Nordstrom leads Chapman Lacrosse against the Michigan Wolverines in the MCLA Final Four. Why TIVO, why not just watch it? Because you'll be somewhere else.

Thursday, May 13th.

In honor of Friday's big game, the biggest game in high school lacrosse in the state this year, today we hit the wayback machine, and bring you a 2006 interview with Mercer Island's coach Ian O'Hearn.

Think of how far we've all come in the last nine months. I can show you an article from a Rush fan, and you know it has nothing to do with an obnoxious radio talkshow or a 70's rock band. Thank you Stealth.

Okay, they're weird. We all know they're weird. They all know we know they're weird. It doesn't mean you shouldn't watch this video. Weird.

Today's Laxative won't be the most fun one you've ever read. It says some things you might not agree with. It might make you mad, in fact. But it addresses a topic that is legitimate, and is magnified in the wake of the tragedies at the University of Virginia. And if you've got a player moving on from high school, it affects you. I encourage you to read it to the end.
Friday, May 7th
Today's item is a little awkward because it is at UVA, which is still reeling from their tragedy (and just got worse.) But it was a great story when I picked it, and it's still a great story now. This is a kid who got rejected, then three years later said "You know what, my dreams deserve another shot."  My all our kids have that attitude.

Thursday, May 6th
A playoff report from Messiah, a school little known to us, with local alumni Ian Lee;  current coach of Seattle Prep, Starz coach to some of many of our kids, Equipment Manager of the Washington Stealth, and and all-around great guy.

It turned out to be not much of "Feel Good Monday." The tragedies at UVA have the whole lacrosse world reeling. I've found this to be a meaningful response.

Wednesday, March 24th.
The thing I've never understood about lacrosse is how such a rough & tough sport has such a high percentage of fashion mavens. The socks, the shorts, the undershirts. How about you just put the ball in the net and let the other guy worry about whether his socks make the piping on his shorts POP!.  Oh well, this kid thinks I'm wrong.

Tuesday, March 23rd.
Remember lacrosse's third law of motion: for each laxative, there is equal and opposite relaxative.
