Dallas Jesuit 13, No. 9 Coppell 11

Entering Wednesday’s Texas High School Lacrosse League Division I game with Coppell, Dallas Jesuit was on a three-game win streak but had not played a game since Feb. 25.
Turns out the rest was good for the Rangers.
Dallas Jesuit came back from a five-goal second-quarter deficit to upset No. 9 Coppell, 13-11, on four goals and three assists from senior attackman Buck McClure and three goals from junior attackman Matt Miller.
The result snaps Coppell's 25-game winning streak. The two-time defending Division II state champion Cowboys had not lost since April 24, 2009, when they fell to Plano West.
Coppell raced to a 6-1 lead, but Dallas Jesuit used a seven-goal run during the second and third quarters to turn the game around.
“Our players showed a great deal of character coming back from a 6-1 deficit against a team like Coppell,” said Dallas Jesuit head coach Chris Surran. “I am unbelievably proud of our guys. We will need to clean up a lot of mistakes on both sides of the field, but this was a gritty win against an excellent opponent.”
Coppell (4-1) opened a 4-1 lead in the first quarter and extended it to 6-1 before Dallas Jesuit (4-0) went on a 5-0 run to close out the first half and tie the game at six. Dallas Jesuit scored two more unanswered goals to start the second half and led, 10-9, at the end of the third quarter.
Surran said Coppell had 13 penalties, and his team was able to convert the man-up opportunities.
